TekTones Privacy Policy

Overview

TekTones is a browser-based music production studio. This policy explains what information the application collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using TekTones you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account information. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive basic profile details from your Google account — typically your name, email address, profile image, and a unique account identifier. We never receive or store your Google password.
Project data. Sessions you save or upload — instrument settings, patterns, sequences, automation, and any audio you record or import — are stored so they can be restored later.
Local browser storage. Preferences such as theme, layout, and recently used settings may be stored in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device.
Technical data. Basic diagnostic information (for example browser type, approximate region, and error logs) may be collected to keep the service working reliably.

Microphone, Instrument, and MIDI Access

Live audio input (guitar, bass, or microphone) and MIDI controller access are only enabled after your browser asks for permission and you grant it. Audio from these inputs is processed locally in your browser in real time. It is never transmitted anywhere unless you explicitly record it and then save or upload that recording.

How We Use Your Information

To authenticate you and keep your saved work associated with your account.
To store, load, and export the sessions and audio you create.
To publish sessions to the community library when you choose to share them.
To diagnose faults, prevent abuse, and improve the application.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Content You Choose to Share

Sessions remain private to your account unless you publish them. When you share a session to the community library, its contents — including settings, patterns, and any embedded audio clips — become publicly viewable and loadable by other users, along with a display name attribution. You can remove a shared session at any time, though copies already downloaded by others cannot be recalled.

Third-Party Services

TekTones relies on third-party infrastructure to provide sign-in, cloud storage, and hosting. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms and only to deliver the service. We do not share your information with third parties for their own independent purposes.

Data Retention

Saved sessions and account data are retained while your account is active. If you delete a session it is removed from your library. If you ask us to delete your account, associated stored data is removed, except where we are required to retain it by law or for security records.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect stored data, including encrypted connections and access controls on cloud storage. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please keep a local backup of work that matters to you.

Your Choices and Rights

You can use TekTones without signing in; cloud features simply stay unavailable.
You can revoke microphone or MIDI permission at any time in your browser settings.
You can delete individual sessions, or request deletion of your account and data.
You can request a copy of the personal information associated with your account.
You can clear locally stored preferences by clearing your browser's site data.

Children's Privacy

TekTones is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Users

TekTones may be accessed from anywhere, and data may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. By using the service you consent to this transfer.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the application evolves. The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be noted within the application.
